Prescriptions
Repeat Prescriptions
We need two working days notice in order to issue you with a repeat prescription.
This can be ordered in the following ways:
- Request your repeat prescription online.
- Bring your request to the surgery.
- Post your request to the surgery. If you enclose a stamped, addressed envelope, we will post the prescription back to you. We can also send your prescription directly to a pharmacy of your choice.
In the interests of accuracy and safety, we don’t accept requests over the telephone.
Please order only the items that you will need for the next 28 days.
We are able to send your repeat prescription direct to a Pharmacy of your choice. Please speak with one of our receptionists about this service.
Repeat Dispensing
In appropriate cases, patients can be placed on ‘Repeat Dispensing’ which reduces the number of times you have to visit/request your medication from the surgery. you can also collect your medication straight from your preferred pharmacy. If you are interested in this service please speak to reception. It is however, not suitable for everyone, this may depend on the medication you are prescribed or the follow-up tests you require.
Electronic Prescribing Service
A new way to get your medicines and appliances
The NHS has introduced the Electronic Prescription Service. This could make collecting prescriptions easier and more convenient for you.
This service gives you the option to ‘nominate’ the place you choose to get your medication or appliance from so that they can receive your prescriptions electronically. This could save you a trip to your GP practice just to collect a prescription form – particularly if you have regular prescriptions.
Wimpole Road Surgery is now offering this service. To register, please complete our form.
